FREE Walking Tour of Medieval Brasov

Category:

As per In Your Pocket guides, few cities in Europe have the charm of Brasov. Indeed, the Old City, founded by the Teutonic Knights in 1211, is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. Cozily nestled in the Carpathian mountains and conveniently surrounded by world-famous attractions, Brasov is Romania's first must-see destination. The city's architectural monuments impress with their beauty and mixture of styles (Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Classic, Empire, Eclectic, Art-Nouveau and Romanesque).

Guided Brasov is a project/NGO launched in 2010 by locals in love with their city and traveling, willing to offer their knowledge and personal insights on Brasov, its historic highlights and its present lifestyle. Thus, it is their aim to encourage travelers to discover the stories, the spirit and the best sites of Brasov in an interactive way and accessible to anyone who wants to join.

The free tour, guided by a local volunteer, takes you on a 2 hours walk through the beautiful Council Square, the citadel's walls and defense bastions, Sforii (Rope) Street, Schei neighborhood, St. Nicholas Cathedral and Tampa Mount. During the cold weather, between October 1 and March 31, the tour is organized upon request. As the weather gets warmer, between April 1 and September 30, the tour is organized every evening and departs at 18:00 from the main square. Please remember, the guide that takes you on a fairy tale journey through Brasov is a volunteer so don't forget to tip!

For more information see reviews on TripAdvisor. Should you need any assistance in organizing the free tour, don't hesitate to ask reception!
